Former child star and Academy Award winner Tatum O’Neal pleaded guilty in a New York court today to charges related to her June 1st arrest. The actress was reportedly spotted buying crack cocaine from a homeless street vendor near her Lower East Side home, and was initially charged with possession of a controlled substance. She pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of disorderly conduct.

The 44 year old former child star has been fighting a much publicized battle against her addictions for years. In her autobiography “A Paper Life”, she admitted to being addicted to heroin at one point, but sought help and beat the addiction.

O’Neal, at 10 years old, was the youngest person to win an Oscar. She won for her role in “Paper Moon”, in which she appeared with her father, actor Ryan O’Neal. At one point, she had become the highest paid child star in history, but never really realized her full potential as an adult actress.

After her court appearance, O’Neal told the New York Daily News “I going back to my meetings and back to my life.” She added, “I’m glad I got the deal that I got.”

Poor Tatum - I know she had a crappy role model for a dad and I like her, but seriously, how long it is going to take her to get her life together?
