With the much awaited birth of the highly anticipated Pitt-Jolie twins, and all of the recent commotion about celebrity baby births in general, I’ve been curious about the price tag of those exclusive first family photos. And though I had some idea that entertainment media execs were willing to shell out bundles of dough for the first shots of the celebrity baby bundles, I’ll be the first to admit that the amounts beig paid made my jaw drop.
Also new, is the way celebrities present their newborns to the world. No longer do they hold press confrences and show up as one big happy family. The latest trend is to keep the baby(s) under wraps until the parents negotiate the asking price. And the price increases with the status of the celebrity.
Just so you’ve got the 411 on just how much of loot these photos are going for, I thought I’d bring you up-to-date on the current asking prices, just in case you’d like to enter the bidding wars.
Listed below are the 10 highest prices paid for celebrity baby pics:
9. $1 million: Tie between Maddie Briann Aldridge (Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge), paid by OK!Magazine, and Harlow Winter Kate Madden (Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden), paid by People.
7. $1.5 mllion: Tie between Max Liron Bratman (Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman), and Honor Marie Warren (Jessica Alba and Cash Warren), paid by People Magazine.
5. $2 million: Tie between Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt (adopted from Viet Nam by Brad Pitt and Agelina Jolie), paid by People Magazine, and Dannielynn Smith (Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead), paid by OK! Magazine.
4. 3 million: Levi Alves McConaughey (Mathew McConaughey and Camilla Alves), paid by OK! Magazine.
3. $4.1 million: Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), paid by People Magazine.
2. $6 million: Max & Emme Anthony (twins of Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony), paid by People Magazine.
1. $11 to 15 million: Knox Leon & Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt (newborns of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), paid by the higest bidder. The negotiations for these photos are under way, and could bring as much as $20 million.
It should be noted that although Pitt and Jolie have raised more than $6.1 million from the sale of photos of their children, they have donated all of it to charity. It is expected that thay will do the same with money earned from the sale of the pictures of their new born twins.
