Wanda Sykes Proud to Be A Gay Black Woman
Wanda Sykes is known for her in-your-face brand of comedy, and has never been shy about spouting off opinions on her political views or social issues.
Now, the comedian opens up about her personal life by publicly expressing her views about the recently enacted Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in the state of California.
“You know, I never really talk about my sexual orientation. I didn’t feel like I had to,” Sykes told a crowd Saturday at a Las Vegas rally for gay rights. “Everybody who knows me personally, they know that I’m gay.”
Sykes now says that the same-sex marriage ban makes her feel as though she’s been personally “attacked”.
“I’m proud to be a woman, I’m proud to be a black woman, and I’m proud to be gay,” Sykes told the crowd.
Sykes was a unscheduled speaker at the event. She just happened to be in town doing a gig at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

Hello Diva,
I’ve got to admit that I didn’t know either. Talk about surprised!!!
Dwacon,
It’s not going to stop me from enjoying her comedy, but I’ll sure be looking at her in a whole different light!
