The Michael Phelps Saga Swims On
If being in the pool is a Temple of Solace for Michael Phelps, then being on dry land is his kryptonite. As gossip continues to circulate about Phelps and his pot smoking incident, the fallout continues to mount.
South Carolina law enforcement officials are investigating whether they can file charges againts the swimmer, Kellogg has announced that they will not renew their sponsorship agreement, and nowm USA Swimming has placed a three month ban on him from competing.
All of this from just a couple of tokes on a bong seems a little excessive. Especially since he was not prepping for any competition.
Neither movie stars or recording artists have their incomes altered after being caught with drugs, and they actually have more influence on the public than a swimmer.
I know, we’re not talking about just any swimmer here, but Michael Phelps is not running for public office or attempting to shape public policy. Is his contribution to society any greater than that of Britney Spears?
Why not just let the guy suffer quietly. Hasn’t he endured enough embarrassment?
