“Slundog Millionaire” Wins Big at Oscars
It’s become the little film that could. “Slumdog Millionaire”, the feel good love story shot in the slums of Mumbai, won the Oscar for Best Picturre at the 81st Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles. The film, made on a budget of only $15 million, won a total of eight awards on the evening, including best director, best score, best song, editing, sound mixing, cinematography, and writing.
The award for Best Actor in a Leading Role went to Sean Penn for his portrayal of the title character in “Milk”, and after six nominations, Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role in “The Reader”.
Heath Ledger won the oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Joker in “The Dark Knight”, becoming only the second actor to win an Academy Award posthumously. And Penelope Cruz won Best Actress for “Vicky Christina Barcelona”.
