‘Top Model’ Auditions Create Stampede in New York
Auditions fot the hit show “America’s Next Top Model” created a stampede in a New York casting call this weekend, as pandemonium sparked among the thousands of aspiring hopefuls. Six people were injured and three were arrested outside of the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan where the auditions were being held.
Police say that pushing and shoving began in the lie outside of the hotel, but was escalated when an overheated BMW broke down and started smoking nearby, and someone suggested it might be a bomb. A police barracade was over run by the crowd, and some people were trampled after being push to the ground.
Tyra Banks, executive producer of the hit show on the CW network issued a statement that representative of the show would coorporate fully with the New York police, and also assured model hopefuls that the auditions would continue.
