Jay Leno Hospitalized, Misses First “Tonight” Show Taping In 17 Years
Late night host Jay Leno of NBC’s “Tonight Show” reported to work as usual Thursday, but was hospitalized after not feeling well. Leno spent the night at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center for “precautionary reasons”, but was released on Friday.
Rumors surrounding the cause of Leno’s hospitalization have ranged from heart attack to food poisoning, but there has been no official statement regarding what caused of his illness.
Taping of the show was canceled Thursday and Friday, marking the first time in 17 years that Leno has missed a taping of the top rated late night show. A Statement released by the network read, “We are happy to say that Jay Leno is feeling much better and has been released from the hospital. He is anxious to return to work on Monday”.
Leno is closing in on the end of his “Tonight Show” tenure. He will be taping his final show on May 29, before moving to a 10:00 p.m. primetime slot.
