“Britain’s Got Talent” Star Susan Boyle Melts Down As Finals Near

              susan-boyle.jpg

Susan Boyle became an overnight international singing sensation just a few weeks ago as she wowed the world with her version of “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables”. Her celebrity increased as the world tuned in to watch her performance of “Memory” from “Cats”, which earned her an invitation into Saturday’s finals of “Britain’s Got Talent”.

But it now seems that pressure form all of the attention is taking it’s toll on the 48 year old singer. She has been a guest on television programs around the world, but appeared visably nervous when she last performed. This week, the mounting anxiety caused her to pack her bags and threaten to leave the show.

“She’s been in tears repeatedly,” says Piers Morgan in an interview aired on “Inside Edition”. He told “The Early Show” that Boyle “even threatened to leave the show yesterday at one stage because of the sheer amount of pressure on her.”

He’s advised her not to read the papers, or watch television.

“She’s beginning to realize that her life will never be the same,” he said.

FSU’s Myron Rolle Puts NFL Career On Hold To Study Medicine

            myron-rolle.jpg

Myron Rolle plays defensive back for the Florida State Seminoles football team. He has the talent to play in the NFL, and is projected as a first round draft pick in the 2010 NFL draft. But, Rolle is putting his NFL dreams on hold to pursue another goal. He is delaying his football career to work towards becoming a neurosurgeon.

Myron Rolle has been accepted as a Rhodes Scholar. Though currently training with elite trainer Tom Shaw at the Disney Wide World of Sports complex with some of the NFL’s best players by his side, including this year’s Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes, Rolle will be taking taking off to study at Oxford University in England.

Coming out of high school, Rolle was the number one ranked player in the country at his position. He’s always dreamed of playing in the NFL, but he’s also always dreamed of helping others through medicine.

Rolle graduated from Florida State as a pre-med student in 2 1/2 years.

“When I was at Florida State, they played up how I was really smart, this braniac-type of guy, and that was fine. But it’s like they would talk about how smart I am and then that was it. I’m thinking to myself, ‘I don’t want to just be great in that. I want to be known as a great football player too.’”

It isn’t often that you find a football player so passionate about healing.

Clay Aiken Slams “American Idol” Runner-Up

                        clay-aiken.jpg

Former “American Idol” runner-up Clay Aiken is eating humble pie. Just one day after he slammed the most recent AI runner-up, Adam Lambert, on his blog, he is now retracting most of his comments. And as with most celebrities who make ridiculous comment, Aiken is claiming that his  comment were misunderstood and taken out of context.

On Friday, Aiken wrote in his blog that Lambert’s singing of “Ring of Fire” was “contrived”, “awful”, and “simply freighting”. He also says that when Lambert sang a Johnny Cash tune, he thought his ears would bleed.

This comes from a guy who’s biggest claim to fame since AI has been confessing that he’s gay.

But one day later, after being ripped to shreds, Aiken rescinded.

“Since my previous blog got dissected like a biology lab frog,” he writes, “I suppose I should clarify and even retract some of what I wrote.”

Natalie Cole Receives Kidney Transplant On Day Her Sister Dies

              natalie-cole.jpg

Natalie Cole was visiting her sister in the hospital when she received word that a kidney had become available for her. Just a few hours later, after Cole was recovering from the transplant surgery, her sister passed away.

Carol Cole, 64, is the older sister of Natalie. She worked as an actress, starring in several episodes her father’s program, “The Nat King Cole Show”, and in the Redd Foxx classic, “Sanford and Son”. She also starred in the spin-off from that series, “Grady”. In each, she starred as Grady’s daughter.

Natalie Cole has been receiving dialysis three times a week, a result of contracting Hepatitis C after years of drug abuse.

“This is all so surreal,” says Timolin Cole, Natalie’s younger sister. “Our sister Cookie hadn’t been to a doctor in 30 years, and last week she went in and they found a cancerous spot on her lung. They wanted to start chemo right away, but Cookie said no.”

           jay-leno.jpg

Jay Leno announced that his final guest on the “Tonight Show” will be none other than his successor, Conan O’Brien. Leno made the announcement during a conference call Thursday morning, and also announced that O’Brien will appear on Leno’s final appearance as host with folk singer, James Taylor.

Leno had previously announced that guests during his final week will include Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwenegger, singer Lyle Lovett, Sarah McLachlan, Billy Crystal, country singer Dwight Yoakam, and Tonight Show regular, Wanda Sykes.

As Leno prepares to end his Tonight Show reign, he is also hard at work on his newest project, a 10 o’clock prime-time show that will compete against the traditional dramatic programming. Leno hope the show will bring some laughs to the time slot.

“There’s no laughs at 10 o’clock,” he said. “To me, 10 o’clock is like the new 11:30. I hear so many young people, ‘I gotta car pool. I gotta get up at 6.”

Former Miss USA Shanna Moakler Resigns As Pageant Director

         shanna-moakler.jpg

Shanna Moakler, the former Miss USA who currently serves as the co-pageant director for the Miss California contest, has resigned just one day after Donald Trump gives the reigning Miss California a reprieve.

“I cannot with a clear consious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth,” she explained.

Moakler was a vocal critic of Carrie Prejean, the current Miss California, who finished as runner-up in the Miss USA pageant last month. Moakler feels that Prejean broke pageant rules by participating in public speaking engagements which were not endorsed by the Miss USA organization. Prejean has appreared in advertising for grpoups opposed to same sex marriage, but also did not disclose modeling in underwear ads, which have since popped up on the internet.

Moakler commented that she felt it was in her best interest to resign.

“I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams.”

Miss California Gets to Keep Her Crown

                   carrie-prejean.jpg

Carrie Prejean, the reigning Miss California who is said to have been a good quote away from winning the Miss USA title, has been given a reprieve by none other than Donald Trump, and will be allowed to keep her crown after the circus-like antics of the past few weeks.

Trump, who owns the Miss USA pageant, met with Prejean today after reviewing photos of the contestant modeling underwear. Trump determined that the photos did not violate the rules of the pageant, and that Prejean would be allowed to continue her reign as Miss California.

Trump praised Prejean for both her beauty, and for standing up to critism in the aftermath of controversial statements made expressing her opposition to same-sex marriage during the Miss USA contest. “If her beauty wasn’t so great no one would have cared,” he said.

“I exercised my freedom of speech and I was punished for doing so,” Prejean commented at a press conference. “This should not happen in America. It undermines the constitutional rights for which my grandfather fought for.”
